Blackburn is a village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is located northwest of the city of Aberdeen. Blackburn is growing quickly.
The village has many useful places. These include an industrial estate (a place with many businesses), a primary school, and a nursing home. You can also find a Starbucks Drive Thru and a local Co-op shop. There is also a community hall called Kinellar Community Centre.

How Blackburn is Governed
Blackburn is part of a special area for elections. This area is called West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine. This is for elections to the UK Parliament, which makes laws for the whole country.
For Scottish elections, Blackburn is part of the Aberdeenshire West area. It is also part of the wider North East Scotland electoral region. These elections are for the Scottish Parliament, which makes laws just for Scotland.
Blackburn is also part of the East Garioch ward. A ward is a local area for voting. This ward is part of the Garioch area, which is managed by the Aberdeenshire Council. The council helps run local services.
There used to be a group called the Fintray and Kinellar Community Council. This group helped share the ideas of local people with the Aberdeenshire Council. However, Blackburn does not have a formal community council right now.
Where Blackburn is Located
Blackburn is about 8.5 miles (14 kilometers) northwest of Aberdeen. It is also about 92 miles (150 kilometers) northeast of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city.
The village is just north of Backhill Wood. This is where small streams begin. These streams join together to form the Black burn. The village gets its name from this burn. The Black burn then flows north until it joins the River Don.
Blackburn's Businesses
The Blackburn Industrial Estate is at the south end of the village. It is right next to the A96 road. This estate is home to various businesses and companies.
Community Life
The Kinellar Community Centre is an important place for the village. The Princess Royal officially opened it on March 2, 2005.
This center is used for many different activities. Community groups meet there, and sports events take place. People also use it for birthday parties and other social gatherings.
Kinellar Parish Church is just north of the village. It is no longer used for church services.
Sports in Blackburn
Blackburn AFC is a local football team. It was started in 1947. The team plays in the Aberdeenshire AFA Division Two (East).
Education for Kids
Blackburn has one school called Kinellar Primary School. This school teaches younger students from the village.
When students finish primary school, they travel by bus to Kemnay. They attend Kemnay Academy for their secondary education.
On New Year's Day in 2016, there was a fire at Kinellar School. It caused a lot of damage to the nursery and P1 classrooms. The old school building was later taken down. A new school was built in its place. This new school cost about £12 million. It includes a nursery, a games area, a community park, and extra car parking.
