Blackfoot is a small community called a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada. It is part of the County of Vermilion River. You can find it about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) north of Highway 16. It's also about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of a city called Lloydminster.

Early Days and Communication
Blackfoot started getting its first services a long time ago. In 1905, a post office opened here. It was first called "Blackfoot Hills." A few years later, in 1909, its name was shortened to just "Blackfoot." People could also start making phone calls from Blackfoot in 1907. This helped people communicate more easily.
