Blocksworld was a fun 3D video game where you could build almost anything using digital blocks! It was like having an endless supply of LEGOs on your screen. The game was made by a company called Linden Lab. It first came out for the iPad in 2013. Later, you could play it on iPhone and even on computers through Steam. Sadly, the game's official servers were shut down in 2020. This means you can't play it officially anymore.

What Could You Do in Blocksworld?

In Blocksworld, players got to be super creative! You could use special 3D building blocks to make all sorts of things. These could be simple shapes or really complex machines. Imagine building a house, a spaceship, or even a giant robot!

Making Creations Move and Play

The game had special "action blocks." These blocks, along with a simple drag-and-drop tool, let you add cool features to your creations. You could make cars that actually drove or jets that could fly! Players even built their own mini-games. These games could have win/lose conditions, health systems, and other fun rules.

Interesting Facts About Blocksworld

  • Before 2017, the game had special building sets based on popular toys like My Little Pony and Transformers. These sets were very popular with players. However, Linden Lab later lost the rights to use these characters from Hasbro. Because of this, the special sets had to be removed from the game.
  • Even after the official servers shut down, some clever coders found a way to keep the game alive. They made a special modified version of Blocksworld. This version, called "The Secondary Server," is only available on computers. You can find it on the Blocksworld Wool modding website.
  • On October 28, 2020, Linden Lab officially announced that they were stopping support for Blocksworld. They shared this news on the r/blocksworld Reddit forum.
