History of Blockton

Blockton was started in 1861 by a group called the Mormons. They first named the town Mormontown. Later, the Mormons moved away from the area.

After they left, a train company called the Chicago Great Western Railroad built tracks through the town. The town was then renamed Blockton. This new name honored W. T. Block, who was an important person at the railroad company.
