History of Bloomdale

Bloomdale started to grow when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad built tracks through the area. The village was officially planned out in 1852. This process, called platting, means they drew up maps to divide the land into lots for buildings and streets.

A post office opened in Bloomdale in 1874, helping people send and receive mail. It served the community for many years, closing in March 2019. Bloomdale officially became an incorporated village in 1887. This means it gained its own local government.
