History of Bloomfield
Bloomfield was built on land that was once part of Rancho Cañada de Pogolimi. In 1853, a person named William Zellhardt built the first house here. This house attracted other people to settle in the area. By 1856, there were plans to create a town.
In the late 1850s, Bloomfield grew quite a bit. It was even the second-largest town in Sonoma County for a while. By 1877, the town had four hotels and about 250 people living there. However, the town's growth slowed down. This happened because the railroads were built in other areas, bypassing Bloomfield.
