Blue Springs is a small village located in Union County, Mississippi, in the United States. It's found in the northeastern part of Mississippi, not far from the city of Tupelo. In 2020, about 436 people lived there. Blue Springs is well-known for being home to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi, which is a big car factory where Toyota cars are made.

A Look at Blue Springs' Past
Blue Springs was officially started in 1888. It became a stop along the Kansas City, Memphis and Birmingham Railroad. This railroad helped connect different towns. Many of the first people who lived in Blue Springs came from a nearby, older community called Ellistown. Ellistown was bypassed by the new railroad, so people moved to where the trains stopped.

Blue Springs is located at 34°24′11″N 88°52′22″W / 34.402978°N 88.872890°W. The village is situated along Mississippi Highway 9. This highway runs northwest of Tupelo. The town of Sherman is just to the southeast.
You can also find Interstate 22 and Mississippi Highway 178 southwest of Blue Springs. These roads connect the area to Tupelo in the southeast. They also link to New Albany in the northwest. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers about 1.0 square mile (2.6 square kilometers) of land.

What Blue Springs is Known For
Blue Springs is a very important place for the economy of the area. It is home to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi. This is Toyota's eighth car factory in North America.
The factory was originally planned to make the Toyota Prius hybrid car. This was supposed to start in 2010. The first groundbreaking ceremony for the factory happened on April 18, 2007.
However, due to economic changes, construction was paused. It started again in June 2010. This brought the promise of 2,000 jobs to the area. Instead of the Prius, the factory now builds the Toyota Corolla. The Corolla is a very popular car.
