Blur is a famous English alternative rock band. They started in London in 1988. At first, they were called Seymour. The band members are singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James, and drummer Dave Rowntree.
Blur's first album, Leisure (1991), had a sound that was popular at the time. Later, Blur changed their music style. They released albums like Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993), Parklife (1994), and The Great Escape (1995).
These albums helped make a type of music called Britpop very popular. Blur became super famous in the UK. This was especially true during a big music competition in 1995. It was a friendly rivalry with another band called Oasis. People called it "The Battle of Britpop."
