Bob Staake (born September 26, 1957, in Los Angeles) is an American illustrator, cartoonist, and author of children's books. He is known for his unique art style. Bob Staake lives and works in Chatham, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod.
When he was in high school, Bob Staake drew cartoons for newspapers. He later studied journalism at the University of Southern California. He also worked at a student press law center.

Bob Staake's Cartoons and Illustrations
Bob Staake's artwork has been featured in many famous newspapers and magazines. These include The New York Times, Time, and The Wall Street Journal. His illustrations have also appeared in advertisements for big companies. Some of these companies are American Express, McDonald's, and Sony.
Starting in 1993, Staake began contributing cartoons to The Washington Post. In 1995, he became a regular artist for Mad magazine. He has also created many covers for The New Yorker magazine. His first cover for The New Yorker was in September 2006.
Staake is known for using older computer software to create his illustrations. He uses a program called Adobe Photoshop 3.0.
Bob Staake's Books
Bob Staake started illustrating books in 1992. He contributed to a book by the famous comedian Jay Leno. In 1998, he wrote and illustrated his very first children's book. It was called My Little 1 2 3 Book.
Since then, he has created many more books for children. One of his books, The Red Lemon, was named one of the ten best illustrated children's books of 2006 by The New York Times.
Bob Staake has also written books about art. In The Complete Book of Caricature, he explained how artists can show a person's personality in a drawing. He also wrote and edited books that helped artists find places to sell their humorous illustrations.
