Bobby J. Dawson, born on February 18, 1966, is a former American football player. He was a talented defensive back, which is a player who helps stop the other team from scoring. Bobby played for seven seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was part of teams like the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Memphis Mad Dogs, and Ottawa Rough Riders. He was even drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). Bobby was recognized as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' Most Outstanding Rookie in 1990.

Bobby J. Dawson was born in Sacramento, California. He grew up there and went to Hiram W. Johnson High School.
Playing for College Teams
Bobby started his college football journey at Sacramento City College. He played there during 1984 and 1985. Later, he moved to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. From 1986 to 1987, he played for the Illinois Fighting Illini. In 1987, he was named to the second-team All-Big Ten team. This was a big honor for his skills on the field.
Bobby Dawson's Professional Football Career
Bobby Dawson was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1988 NFL draft. He signed with them that year, but he was later released.
Playing in the CFL: Hamilton Tiger-Cats
In 1990, Bobby joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played in 15 games and made 51 tackles and three interceptions. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an opposing player. Because of his great performance, he was named the Tiger-Cats' Most Outstanding Rookie that season.
He continued to play well in 1991, appearing in 15 games. He had 72 defensive tackles and five interceptions. In 1992, Bobby played in all 18 games for the Tiger-Cats. He recorded 76 defensive tackles and four interceptions. One of his interceptions was returned 25 yards for a touchdown! The Tiger-Cats had a good season, finishing with 11 wins and 7 losses.
Bobby played in 11 games in 1993, making 33 defensive tackles and two interceptions. One of these interceptions also led to a touchdown. In his last season with the Tiger-Cats in 1994, he played in eight games. He recorded 35 defensive tackles and three interceptions.
Playing for Other CFL Teams
In 1995, Bobby Dawson played for the Memphis Mad Dogs. This was a new team in the CFL. He played in 13 games for them. He had 58 defensive tackles and one interception.
His final season in the CFL was in 1996. He played one game for the Ottawa Rough Riders.
