Bobby Ray Phills II (born December 20, 1969 – died January 12, 2000) was an American professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard and small forward in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bobby played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Hornets.
Bobby was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He went to Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1991 NBA draft. He was the 45th player picked overall.
After being cut by the Bucks, Bobby played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. This team was part of the Continental Basketball Association. Later, he joined the Cavaliers in the NBA. During his nine years in the NBA, he scored about 11 points per game. He was known for his strong defense and good three-point shooting.

Bobby's Family Life
Bobby Phills had a family. He was survived by his parents, his wife Kendall, and their three children. His children are a daughter named Brittany Dickson, a son named Bobby Ray Phills III (known as Trey), and a daughter named Kerstie.
Trey Phills became well-known in North Carolina for playing basketball. He played college basketball for Yale. Now, he plays for the Greensboro Swarm in the NBA G League. Kerstie Phills also plays college basketball for Florida Gulf Coast University.
Bobby's Legacy and Honor
The Charlotte Hornets honored Bobby Phills by retiring his jersey number, 13. This happened on February 9, 2000. It was during a game against his old team, the Cavaliers. This was the first time the Hornets franchise had ever retired a player's number.
Bobby's teammates wore a special patch on their jerseys. It had his number 13 on it for the rest of that season. His jersey hung in the Charlotte Coliseum. When the team moved to New Orleans, it was displayed there.
Later, the Hornets name returned to Charlotte. On November 1, 2014, Bobby's jersey was honored again. It now hangs in the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
