Bobby T. Shaw II, born on April 23, 1975, is an American who played professional football. He was a wide receiver, which is a player who catches passes from the quarterback. Bobby Shaw played in the National Football League (NFL).
Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the California Golden Bears. He was recognized as a third-team All-American in 1997. During his NFL career, Shaw played for five different teams: the Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, and San Diego Chargers.

Bobby Shaw's Early Life and College Career
High School and College Years
Bobby Shaw went to Galileo High School in San Francisco. After high school, he attended the University of California, Berkeley. He became a star player for the California Golden Bears football team.
Setting College Records
When Bobby Shaw finished his college career at Cal, he had set some amazing records. He became the school's all-time leader in receptions. He caught 180 passes for a total of 2,731 yards. He also scored 27 touchdowns, which are points scored when a player carries the ball into the opponent's end zone.
Success Under Coach Mariucci
In 1996, Steve Mariucci became the head coach for the Golden Bears. Bobby Shaw really shined under Coach Mariucci's guidance. In one game against UCLA, he caught 12 passes for 168 yards. He also scored three touchdowns in an exciting 48-42 triple-overtime win against Oregon State.
After that successful season, Shaw played in the Aloha Bowl. He scored two touchdowns in that game, even though Cal lost 42–38 to Navy. For his excellent performance that year, Bobby Shaw was named first-team All-Pac-10. This means he was one of the best players in his college conference.
Becoming a Team Captain
In 1997, Bobby Shaw became a team captain for Tom Holmoe's first team as head coach. That year, he set new single-season records for Cal. He had 74 receptions for 1,093 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Even though it was a challenging year for the Cal team, Shaw helped them win one of their three games. He gained 158 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in a 40–36 victory over Oklahoma. Once again, he was voted to the All-Pac-10 first team. He also became the third wide receiver from Cal to earn first-team All-America honors from Sporting News. The UCLA Head Coach, Bob Toledo, even said that Shaw was "the best receiver in the conference, one of the best in the country, and he'll end up being the best receiver in Cal history."
Bobby Shaw's NFL Career
Joining the NFL
Bobby Shaw was chosen by the Seattle Seahawks in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL draft. Later that same year, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He went on to play professional football for six years. During this time, he played for the Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, and San Diego Chargers.
Life After Football
After his professional football career, Bobby Shaw now lives in California.
