The Moving Church Tower
Bocholt has a truly amazing historical story from 1910. The town's church was becoming too small for all the people who wanted to attend. Instead of tearing it down, they did something incredible. They decided to move the church tower!
How They Moved It
Between April and September 1910, the church tower was carefully lifted. It was then moved 9.40 meters (about 31 feet) to make space for a bigger church. This was a huge engineering challenge for its time.
The Engineers Behind the Move
Two clever engineers led this amazing project. They were Alberto Morglia from Italy and Henry Weiss from America. Their work made it possible to enlarge the church without destroying its historic tower. This event shows how innovative people can be!
