Cheeming Boey (born April 12, 1978) is a talented artist from Malaysia. Most people know him simply as Boey. He is famous for his amazing drawings on foam coffee cups. He also creates a daily webcomic called I Am Boey. Plus, he wrote a popular graphic novel about his life, When I Was A Kid.

Boey's Early Life and Career
Boey was born in Singapore. He grew up on a bird farm in Malaysia. Later, he moved to the United States. He first studied Advertising in San Francisco. Then he changed his major to Computer Animation. After finishing college, Boey taught computer animation there.
In 1999, Boey started working for Blizzard Entertainment. This company makes video games. He was a lead animator for games like Diablo II and Diablo III. For a short time, he also worked on the game Lair at another company. Today, Boey writes full-time. He also does freelance design work for big companies. Some of his clients include Mattel and Disney. He also gives talks as a traveling lecturer. He even spoke at Ted X Weldquay. Boey has a weekly comic in The Edge newspaper in Malaysia.

Webcomics and Graphic Novels
In 2007, Boey started a daily webcomic. It was about his everyday experiences. He still posts new comics six days a week. His book, When I Was A Kid, tells stories from his childhood. It's like a prequel to his adult life blog. In May 2012, When I Was A Kid became a best-seller in Malaysia. You can find his book online through the Blurb website. Boey released his second book, When I Was A Kid 2, in July 2013. It was also very successful.
Amazing Coffee Cup Art
Boey started drawing on foam cups in Southern California. At first, he didn't have any paper. But then he really liked how his drawings looked on the cups. In 2011, Artist A Day chose Boey as the Best Illustrator. He gets ideas from famous artists like Hokusai and Kieth Haring. Many of his cup drawings are also inspired by his travels. His art is now shown in galleries in the US and Asia.
Start with Sharpie Campaign
In 2011, the company Sharpie noticed Boey's unique cup art. They asked him to be part of their Start With Sharpie ad campaign. A commercial called Sharpie: Coffee Cups to Canvas featured Boey and his art. This commercial won an award in 2012. It was called the TED Ads Worth Spreading award.
