The Bogotá grass mouse (Neomicroxus bogotensis) is a small rodent that belongs to the family Cricetidae. It is also sometimes called the Bogotá akodont.

Where Does It Live?
The Bogotá grass mouse lives in the Andes mountains. You can find it in the eastern and central parts of Colombia. It also lives in the northwestern areas of Venezuela. These regions are often cool and mountainous.
Its Scientific Name
In 1895, a scientist named Oldfield Thomas first described this species. For a long time, it was known as Akodon bogotensis. However, in 2013, scientists Alavarado-Serrano and D'Elía studied it more closely. They decided to place it in a new group, or genus, called Neomicroxus. Another mouse, Neomicroxus latebricola, is also part of this new group. This change helps scientists better understand how different mouse species are related.
