Bonavista Bay facts for kids
Bonavista Bay is a really big bay on the northeast coast of Newfoundland, an island in Canada. It's part of the province called Newfoundland and Labrador. This large bay opens right up to the Atlantic Ocean.
The bay is bordered by two important capes. To the north, you'll find Cape Freels. To the south, there's Cape Bonavista. Cape Bonavista also marks the eastern edge of the Bonavista Peninsula. This peninsula forms the southern shore of the bay.
The middle part of the bay's western shore has many small waterways and islands. This area is also home to Terra Nova National Park. Bonavista Bay has lots of islands covered in thick forests. This makes it feel almost like a lake, even though it's connected to the ocean.

A small ferry service helps people travel around the bay. It runs from a place called Burnside to St. Brendan's. St. Brendan's is located on Cottel's Island within the bay.
