Bonnie Hunt is also famous for her voice acting. She has lent her voice to many beloved animated characters. Bonnie Lynn Hunt grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Her father, Robert Edward Hunt, was an electrician. Her mother, Alice E. Hunt, was of Polish descent. Bonnie has six brothers and sisters.

She went to Catholic schools in Chicago. Before becoming an actress, Bonnie worked as a nurse's aide. In 1982, she was an oncology nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

In 1984, Bonnie helped start a comedy group called An Impulsive Thing. She also joined the famous comedy theater The Second City in Chicago in 1986. While still working as a nurse in 1988, she got a role in the movie Rain Man. She played a waitress named Sally Dibbs.

In 1990, Bonnie Hunt played Carol Anne Smithson in the TV show Grand. She was offered a spot on Saturday Night Live but turned it down. This was because she preferred her own style of comedy, which involved making things up on the spot. In 1991, she joined the cast of Davis Rules.

In 1993, Bonnie worked with her friend David Letterman to create The Building. This show was filmed live, and they often left in funny mistakes. In 1995, they made another show together called Bonnie. Critics liked it, but it was canceled after a short time.

Bonnie returned to TV in 2002 with Life with Bonnie. She played Bonnie Molloy. This role earned her an Emmy nomination in 2004. Even though the show had good ratings, it was canceled after two seasons.

In 2007, Bonnie Hunt filmed a pilot episode for a talk show. The show was approved and named The Bonnie Hunt Show. It started on September 8, 2008. The set was designed to honor famous TV personalities and her own family.

The show was like Live with Regis and Kelly, where Bonnie and her guests often talked with the audience. Many of the show's staff were her old friends from Chicago. The show usually began with a funny opening speech. Then, she would interview guests and play games with the audience. Bonnie's mother, Alice, often appeared in online videos from her home.

The Bonnie Hunt Show was filmed in Culver City, California. It was watched in many major US cities. In its first year, the show was nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards. It won the Gracie Award for "Outstanding Talk Show" in 2009. In 2010, Bonnie was nominated for "Outstanding Talk Show Host" at the Daytime Emmy Awards. The last episode aired on May 26, 2010.

Bonnie Hunt's Personal Life

In 1988, Bonnie Hunt married an investment banker named John Murphy. They separated in 2006 and their divorce was finalized in 2008.

Bonnie is a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball team. She has attended their opening day games at Wrigley Field every year since 1977. She was even there in Cleveland when the Cubs won the 2016 World Series.

Bonnie Hunt also supports the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. This organization helps with research for a type of cancer. She is an honorary board member for the foundation.
