Book Book is a small rural area in the central east part of a region called the Riverina in New South Wales, Australia. It is located about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) north of Kyeamba. It is also about 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) south of Ladysmith.
History of Book Book
The land where Book Book is located has a long history. It is part of the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people. They are the original owners and custodians of this area.
What Book Book is Like Today
Today, Book Book is a very quiet place. You won't find many buildings there. The main things that show Book Book still exists are some old tennis courts. There is also a telephone exchange building. This building helps connect phone calls in the area. Both of these are located just off the main road to Tumbarumba.
Past Community Life
In the past, Book Book was a more active community. The tennis courts were once busy. A local tennis club used them for games and fun. There was also a village hall in Book Book. This hall was a central place for people to gather. Dances and other social events were held there. Even church services for the Anglican faith took place in the hall.
The Book Book School
Book Book also had its own public school. It first opened its doors in October 1924. At first, it was a 'half-time' school. This means students might have attended only part of the week. The school served the children of the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in December 1987.
