Borgholm Municipality (also called Borgholms kommun in Swedish) is a special area in south-eastern Sweden. It's like a local government district. This municipality covers the northern part of Öland, a beautiful island in the Baltic Sea. The main town, or "seat," where the local government offices are, is called Borgholm. You can find cool historical places here, like the old Borgholm Castle and Halltorps Estate. In the 1970s, the island of Öland was divided into two main areas for local government. Borgholm Municipality is the northern one.
