Military History of Boulder
During World War II, Boulder played a small but important role. It was home to RAAF No.27 Inland Aircraft Fuel Depot. This facility was finished in 1942. Its main job was to store and supply fuel for aircraft. This fuel was used by the RAAF and the US Army Air Forces. The depot closed on June 14, 1944.
Across Australia, 31 such fuel depots were built. They usually had four large tanks each. These depots were vital for keeping military planes flying during the war.
