The Boyne River is a cool river located in Ontario, Canada. It flows through the beautiful Muskoka region. This river is part of a much bigger water system called the Great Lakes Basin.
The Boyne River starts its journey at Fowler Lake. It then flows into Dwight Bay, which is part of the Lake of Bays. You can find this area near the community of Dwight, right by Ontario Highway 60.
From the Lake of Bays, the water continues its path. It travels through the Muskoka River, then the Moon River, and finally the Musquash River. All this water eventually reaches Georgian Bay, which is a large part of Lake Huron. So, the Boyne River's water travels a long way!
What is a River Basin?
A river basin is like a giant bowl that collects all the water. This water comes from rain, snowmelt, and smaller streams. All the water in a basin eventually flows into one main river or lake. The Boyne River is part of the huge Great Lakes Basin. This means its water eventually joins the Great Lakes.
River Friends: Tributaries
A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger river or lake. Think of it as a helper stream.
