Brad Falchuk's Early Life

Brad Falchuk was born in Massachusetts, USA. His mother, Nancy Falchuk, was a leader of a large women's organization called Hadassah. When he was in high school, Brad tried to stand out by wearing a tie every day. He also enjoyed playing sports like baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. He later found out he had dyslexia, which is a learning difference that can make reading and writing harder. He graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1993. He then earned a master's degree in screenwriting from the AFI Conservatory.

Brad Falchuk's Career in Television

How Brad Falchuk Started in TV

Brad Falchuk began his TV career as a writer for shows like Mutant X in 2001. He also wrote for Earth: Final Conflict and Veritas: The Quest. In 2003, he started working on the first season of the show Nip/Tuck. While working on Nip/Tuck, he became good friends and partners with the show's creator, Ryan Murphy.

Falchuk and Murphy later wrote a TV show idea called Pretty/Handsome. This show was about a transgender doctor. The FX network bought the idea in 2008, but it was not made into a full series.

Creating the Hit Show Glee

As Nip/Tuck was ending, Falchuk and Murphy looked for a new project. They wanted to create something lighter and more fun. They teamed up with writer Ian Brennan. Ian had written a story about high school show choirs. Together, they pitched their idea for a comedy show about a glee club to the Fox network.

Their idea was a success, and it became the TV show Glee. The show first aired in 2009. Glee became very popular. Falchuk, Murphy, and Brennan were nominated for two Writers Guild of America Awards for their work on the show. After Glee became successful, Falchuk signed a big deal with 20th Century Fox Television. This deal meant he would continue working on Glee and create other shows. Glee finished its run in 2015 after six seasons.

American Horror Story and Scream Queens

In 2011, Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy created a new show together. It was a horror-drama series called American Horror Story. Each season of this show tells a different scary story. The first season premiered in October 2011 and was very popular with critics. The series has been nominated for many awards over the years.

Falchuk is also an executive producer for American Crime Story, which started in 2016. This show tells true crime stories. In 2015, Falchuk, Murphy, and Brennan also created a horror comedy series called Scream Queens. This show ran until December 2016. It starred actors like Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis. The first season of Scream Queens was set on a college campus.

In March 2019, Falchuk signed a big deal with Netflix. Through his company, Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, he will develop, write, produce, and direct new shows for Netflix.

Brad Falchuk's Personal Life

In 1997, when he was a student, Brad Falchuk helped start a group called Young Storytellers. This group helps young people learn about creative writing. He helped create it because there were fewer art programs in schools. As of 2017, Falchuk was still involved with the Young Storytellers group.

Brad Falchuk was first married to TV producer Suzanne Bukinik. They got married in 2002 and had two children. They divorced in 2013.

Brad Falchuk met actress Gwyneth Paltrow on the set of Glee in 2010. They started dating in 2014 after his first marriage ended.
