A Look Back: Bradford's History
Bradford started to grow in the early 1800s. People noticed that the Waits River had a steep drop. This drop could be used to power machines with water! This was great for building factories.
A man named Asa Low helped a lot with this growth. In 1847, he built a brick grist mill. A grist mill is a place where grain is ground into flour. This helped the village become busy and successful throughout the 1800s.
