About the Waits River
The Waits River starts in the southwestern part of Caledonia County. It begins in a town called Groton. From there, it quickly flows into Orange County.
Where the River Flows
The river generally flows toward the southeast. It travels through several towns in Orange County. These towns include Orange, Topsham, and Corinth. Finally, it reaches Bradford.
In the village of Bradford, the Waits River meets the much larger Connecticut River. This is where its journey ends.
Other Streams Joining the Waits
The Waits River has a few smaller streams that join it. These are also called tributaries.
South Branch Waits River
In the town of Bradford, a short stream flows into the Waits River. This stream is known as the South Branch Waits River. It flows eastward from Corinth before joining the main river.
Tabor Branch Waits River
Further upstream, near the village of East Corinth, another important stream joins the Waits River. This one is called the Tabor Branch Waits River. The Tabor Branch starts in the northwestern part of the town of Topsham. This area is sometimes called "The Territory."
The Tabor Branch begins as two smaller streams. These streams flow southeast to the village of East Topsham. Then, they continue south, passing through East Corinth, until they meet the Waits River.
