His Professional Football Career
Playing for the New York Jets
Brandon Moore signed with the New York Jets on April 26, 2002. He was an undrafted free agent, meaning no team picked him in the NFL draft. He spent some time on the team's practice squad. He also played for the Scottish Claymores and the Carolina Cobras in other football leagues.
Moore first played in an NFL game in 2003. He appeared in three games and started one. In 2004, he started 13 games. He helped running back Curtis Martin become the NFL's top rusher that year. The Jets released Moore in February 2009, but they signed him again the very next day.
After being a top guard for several years, Moore was finally chosen for his first Pro Bowl. This honor came after the 2011–2012 season. The Pro Bowl is an all-star game for the best players in the NFL.
Moore is also remembered for a play against the New England Patriots in 2012. During this Thanksgiving Day game, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez ran into Moore. Sanchez lost the ball, and a Patriots player, Steve Gregory, picked it up and scored a touchdown.
Joining the Dallas Cowboys
On August 7, 2013, Moore signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys. However, shortly after signing, he announced his retirement. He explained that he could not bring himself to leave his family to play.
