Brandon Pirri's Hockey Journey

Starting His Career in College Hockey

Brandon Pirri first decided to play college hockey with the RPI Engineers. This team is part of the ECAC league. He was even invited to try out for Canada's national junior team in 2011. However, he didn't make the final team roster.

After a great first year in college, Pirri decided to become a professional player. He left RPI to join the Rockford IceHogs. This team plays in the American Hockey League (AHL), which is a league below the NHL. He signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, who had drafted him earlier.

Playing in the National Hockey League (NHL)

Brandon Pirri was called up to play for the Blackhawks in the NHL after the 2012–13 season started. During the 2013–14 season, he was traded from the Blackhawks to the Florida Panthers. This trade happened on March 2, 2014.

In the 2015–16 season, Pirri scored 11 goals for the Panthers. He played 52 games that season before being traded again. On February 29, 2016, he moved to the Anaheim Ducks.

After playing for the Ducks, Pirri became a free agent. This means he could sign with any team he wanted. On August 25, 2016, he signed a one-year contract with the New York Rangers.

Later Years and Reaching Milestones

In 2017, Pirri tried out for the Florida Panthers again. He competed in their training camp and pre-season games. However, he didn't get a contract with the team at that time.

A few days later, on October 4, 2017, he signed a one-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights. On April 3, 2018, Pirri was called up to the NHL by the Golden Knights. He scored two goals in a game against the Vancouver Canucks. This game was special because it helped him reach 100 career points in the NHL!

On September 28, 2020, Brandon Pirri returned to the Blackhawks. He played for their organization for two more seasons. After a 12-year professional career, he decided to retire from playing hockey.
