Brandon Williams (born June 21, 1988) is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Brandon played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Dallas Cowboys picked him in the 2009 NFL draft. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals.

Early Life and High School Football
Brandon Williams grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He went to South Hills High School. In his senior year, he was a top player in his district. He made 102 tackles and had 11 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback.
College Football Career
Brandon received a football scholarship to Texas Tech University.
Freshman Year at Texas Tech
As a first-year student, he played in 11 games. He was a backup defensive end. He made 16 tackles and 3.5 sacks. This was the third-highest number of sacks on his team.
Sophomore Year Success
In his second year, Brandon became a starting defensive end. He led his team with 6 sacks. He also had 12.5 tackles for loss. A tackle for loss means stopping an opponent behind the line of scrimmage. He also made 41 tackles and forced 3 fumbles.
Junior Year Highlights
As a junior, Brandon had an amazing season. He led the Big 12 Conference with 11 sacks. This was also tied for fourth in his school's history. He made 13 tackles for loss. He also forced one fumble. After this great season, he decided to enter the NFL draft early. He finished his college career with 78 tackles. He also had 20.5 sacks, which is fourth in Texas Tech history.
Professional Football Career
Dallas Cowboys Experience
The Dallas Cowboys chose Brandon in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL draft. They planned for him to play as an outside linebacker. Sadly, he tore a ligament in his knee (ACL) during a preseason game. This injury happened while he was playing on special teams. He was placed on the injured reserve list. This meant he could not play for the rest of the season.
In his second year, he was careful because of his injury. He did not play in 10 games. He finished the season with four tackles on special teams. The Cowboys released him in September 2011.
Arizona Cardinals Time
The Arizona Cardinals signed Brandon to their practice squad in November 2011. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team. They can be called up to play if needed. He was moved to the active roster in December. This meant he could play in games. Brandon was released by the Cardinals in August 2012 due to a shoulder injury.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Brandon became a football coach. In 2016, he was the head coach for the Texas Stealth. This was a team in the American Indoor Football league. He is now a football coach at Nolan Catholic High School.
