Brayan Beckeles: A Football Journey
Starting His Club Career
Brayan Beckeles began his football journey with his hometown club, Vida. He made his first professional appearance for Vida and even became their captain. In 2011, he joined one of Honduras's biggest clubs, Olimpia.
Playing for Olimpia
Beckeles played his first official game for Olimpia on July 27, 2011. This was during a CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round match. They played against Santos Laguna. Even though Olimpia lost 3-1, Beckeles scored their only goal.
Time with Nashville SC
On December 4, 2019, it was announced that Beckeles would join Nashville SC. This was for their very first season in MLS in 2020.
Representing Honduras
Brayan Beckeles first played for the Honduras national football team in September 2010. This was in a friendly match against Canada. A friendly match is an exhibition game, not part of a tournament.
On January 26, 2013, Beckeles scored his first goal for the national team. This happened in his 11th game, during the semi-finals of the 2013 Copa Centroamericana. He scored against Belize. His goal was very important, as Honduras won 1-0 and moved on to the final.
He has also played for his country in several CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments. On June 7, 2014, he was sent off during a World Cup warm-up match against England. Being "sent off" means he had to leave the game. This happened because he received two yellow cards, which means he committed two fouls that were serious enough for a warning.
