About Brendan Murray
Brendan was born in Tuam, a town in County Galway, Ireland. He went to St Patrick's Primary School and St Jarlath's College, both in Tuam.
Being Part of HomeTown (2014–2016)
In 2014, Brendan Murray became a member of an Irish boy band named HomeTown. A famous music manager, Louis Walsh, managed the band.
HomeTown had three popular songs in Ireland. Two of them, "Where I Belong" (2014) and "Cry for Help" (2015), even reached number one. Their first album, HomeTown, came out in November 2015. It became the fourth most popular album in Ireland. In December 2016, the band announced they would take a break for an unknown amount of time.
Representing Ireland in Eurovision (2016–2017)
On December 16, 2016, it was announced that Brendan Murray would represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. The Eurovision Song Contest is a big international music competition.
His song for the contest was "Dying to Try", released on March 10, 2017. Brendan performed in the semi-final of Eurovision. However, he did not get enough votes to reach the final round. He finished 13th out of 18 contestants, and only the top ten moved on.
Competing on The X Factor (2018)
In 2018, Brendan Murray decided to try out for The X Factor UK. This is a popular TV singing competition. During the "Six Chair Challenge," he impressed One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, who was a judge. Louis gave Brendan a "safe seat," which meant he automatically moved forward to the live shows.
For his first live performance, Brendan sang "Break Free" by Ariana Grande. In the second week, he sang "Believe" by Cher. That week, he was one of the contestants with the fewest public votes. He had to sing again to stay in the competition. The judges' votes were tied, so the decision went back to the public votes. Brendan was saved and continued in the show.
In the third week, he performed "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer. For "Movie Week" in Week 4, he sang "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M.. Brendan made it to the semi-final of the competition. However, he received the fewest public votes in the semi-final and was eliminated. He finished in 5th place.
Recent Music (2021-Present)
