Brewery facts for kids
A brewery is a special place where beer is made. It can also be a business that makes and sells beer. Think of it like a factory, but for drinks!
Breweries come in many sizes. Some are huge, taking up several city blocks. Others might be small, like a collection of equipment in someone's kitchen for making beer at home. No matter the size, breweries usually have different areas. Each area is used for a specific part of the beer-making process.
The History of Breweries
Making beer has a very long history! The oldest brewery that is still making beer today is thought to be the Weihenstephan brewery. It's located in the city of Freising in Germany. This brewery has been around since 1040! That's almost a thousand years!
Another brewery in the Czech Republic, called Zatec, says it can prove it paid beer taxes way back in 1004. This shows how old the art of brewing really is.
