The Brexit Alliance was a small political group in the United Kingdom. It was started on 12 December 2018 by two politicians, Peter Whittle and David Kurten.

What Was the Brexit Alliance?

The Brexit Alliance was a special kind of political group. It was formed by politicians who wanted to work together. This group was active in the London Assembly. The London Assembly is a group of people who help make important decisions for London.

How the Group Started

Peter Whittle and David Kurten were first chosen to be part of the London Assembly in 2016. At that time, they were members of another political party called the UK Independence Party (UKIP).

However, Peter Whittle decided to leave UKIP. To still be recognized as a group in the London Assembly, you need at least two members. So, when Peter Whittle left his old party, he and David Kurten formed the Brexit Alliance. This made sure they could continue to work as a team in the Assembly.

David Kurten also left UKIP later, in January 2020. But he stayed as a member of the Brexit Alliance.

When Did the Brexit Alliance End?

The Brexit Alliance stopped being a group on 6 May 2021. This happened after the 2021 London Assembly election. In that election, both Peter Whittle and David Kurten were not re-elected to their seats. Because they no longer had members in the Assembly, the group came to an end.
