Brian Robinson Jr. (born March 22, 1999), often called "B Rob", is a professional football player. He is a running back for the Washington Commanders in the National Football League (NFL). A running back is a player who primarily carries the ball. Brian played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He won two national championships there. The Commanders picked him in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft. During his first pre-season, Brian was shot twice in an armed robbery. He bravely returned to play with his team just two months later.

Early Life and High School Football

Brian Robinson Jr. was born on March 22, 1999, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He went to Hillcrest High School. In his senior year, he ran for 990 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. He was recognized as a top high school player. Many colleges wanted him to play for them. Brian chose to play college football at the University of Alabama.

College Football Career

Brian started his college career at Alabama in 2017. In his very first game against Vanderbilt, he scored his first college touchdown. As a freshman, he helped Alabama win the 2018 National Championship. He ran for 165 yards and scored two touchdowns that year.

In 2018, Brian continued to improve. He gained 272 yards and scored two touchdowns in his second year. By 2019, he became the second-best running back on the team. He rushed for 441 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 124 yards.

The 2020 season was another great year for Brian and Alabama. They won their second national title while he was on the team. He ran for 483 yards and scored six touchdowns.

In 2021, Brian became the main running back for Alabama. Even with some injuries, he had an amazing year. He led his conference in carries and touchdowns. In one game against Ole Miss, he ran for 171 yards and scored four touchdowns! He also had a huge game against Texas A&M with 207 total yards. Brian was named the most valuable player of the 2021 Cotton Bowl Classic. He set a school record by rushing for 204 yards in that bowl game. He finished his senior year with 1,343 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 35 passes for 296 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Professional Football Career

The Washington Commanders picked Brian Robinson Jr. in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft. This means he was the 98th player chosen overall. He signed his first professional contract on May 18, 2022.

On August 28, 2022, Brian was involved in an armed robbery and was shot. He was taken to the hospital but thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening. He was released from the hospital the very next day. Brian showed incredible strength and determination. He missed the first four games of the season. He made his NFL debut in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

Brian scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. It was a game-winning touchdown for the Commanders! In Week 12, he had his first game with over 100 rushing yards against the Atlanta Falcons. As a rookie, he played in 12 games and started 9 of them. He finished the season with 797 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also caught 9 passes for 60 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. For his amazing comeback, Sports Illustrated named him the 2022 Inspiration of the Year. He also won the Washington team's Ed Block Courage Award.

In the 2023 season, Brian continued to be a key player. In Week 10, he had 119 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks. He started 15 games that season. He finished with 733 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He also had 368 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Brian started the 2024 season strong. In Week 2, he ran for a new career-high of 133 rushing yards. He also had 101 rushing yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals. In Week 13, he rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans. Brian helped the Commanders win a playoff game against the Detroit Lions. He ran for 77 yards and scored two touchdowns in that game. This win sent Washington to the NFC Championship Game.
