Her Life and Career

Brigitte Lin was born in Chiayi, Taiwan. Her parents moved to Taiwan from Shandong, China, in 1949. In 1972, a film producer discovered her on the streets of Taipei. She had just finished high school and was getting ready for university.

Becoming a Star

Brigitte Lin's first movie was Outside the Window (1973). This film quickly made her a star. In the 1970s, she became part of a famous group called the "Two Chins, Two Lins." This group included her, Joan Lin, Charlie Chin, and Chin Han. They starred in many romantic movies based on novels by Chiung Yao. These movies were very popular in Taiwan. By 1982, Brigitte Lin had played the main role in 12 of Chiung Yao's films.
