Brindisi Football Club is an Italian football team based in the city of Brindisi, located in the Apulia region of southern Italy. The club plays its home matches at Stadio Franco Fanuzzi.

Club History

Brindisi Football Club was first started in 1912 as F.B. Brindisi 1912. Over the years, the club has faced some challenges and has been restarted, or "refounded," several times. This happened in 1990, then in 2004, again in 2011, and finally in 2015, when it took on its current name.

Early Years and Promotions

After being refounded in 2004, the team played in a league called Eccellenza Apulia during the 2004–05 season. They finished second, which allowed them to enter national playoffs. Brindisi won these playoffs and earned a promotion to Serie D, which is a higher league.

For the next four seasons, the team competed in Serie D. In the 2008–09 season, Brindisi performed very well. They finished first in their group, called Girone H. This victory meant they were directly promoted to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione, moving up another level in Italian football.

Becoming a Professional Club Again

In 2011, the club faced some difficulties and was excluded from the league. It then restarted in Serie D with a new name, Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Città di Brindisi. This name meant it was an "Amateur Sports Club." However, this version of the club only lasted for four years before facing financial problems.

A new Brindisi club was formed in 2015, starting in a lower league called Prima Categoria. The team worked hard and kept improving. At the end of the 2022/2023 season, Brindisi achieved a major success: they were promoted to Serie C. This promotion was very important because it meant the club became a fully professional football club again. It was the first time in 33 years that Brindisi FC was a professional team.
