Britton is a small city in South Dakota, United States. It's the main town, or county seat, of Marshall County. In 2020, about 1,215 people lived there. Britton's motto is "The View Is Great From Here." A local newspaper, the Britton Journal, is published every week.

History
Britton was started in 1884. It became a stop along the Milwaukee Railroad line. In 1885, Britton was chosen as the county seat for the new Marshall County. It officially became a city in 1906. The city was named after Isaac Britton, who was an official with the railroad.
Geography
Britton covers an area of about 0.73 square miles (1.89 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
Climate
Britton has a climate with warm summers and cold winters. The hottest temperature ever recorded was 114°F (46°C) in July and August. The coldest temperature ever recorded was -44°F (-42°C) in January. The city gets about 24 inches (61 cm) of rain and about 45 inches (114 cm) of snow each year.
