The Bronx Children's Museum is a special place for kids to learn and play. It was started in 2005. You can find its main exhibition space in Mill Pond Park in the South Bronx, New York City.

The museum doesn't just have a building. It also offers fun programs in schools, after-school clubs, and during summer. These programs happen all over the Bronx. They visit schools, community centers, libraries, and even local festivals.

What the Museum Does

The Bronx Children's Museum brings learning to kids everywhere. Since 2011, they have a special "Museum On The Go!" bus. This bus is also known as the "purple bus." It travels around the borough. The purple bus helps the museum reach about 10,000 people each year. It brings exciting activities right to children.

Famous Supporters

Many well-known people support the Bronx Children's Museum. One supporter is Sonia Sotomayor. She is a very important judge on the Supreme Court. Another supporter is Sonia Manzano, who was a star on the TV show Sesame Street. Both of them often join the museum's "Dream Big" summer program.

Sonia Manzano even wrote a children's book for the museum. It's called The Lowdown on the High Bridge. This book is about the nearby High Bridge. This bridge goes over the East River. It used to carry water to Manhattan from the old Croton Aqueduct. Other famous people linked to the museum include Kerry Washington and Chazz Palminteri. They have been honored at the museum's yearly parties. Sunny Hostin is also on the museum's board of directors.

The Museum's Home

The museum's permanent building opened on December 3, 2022. Before that, they had a special ceremony on July 12, 2017, to start building it. The museum is located on the entire second floor of the Power House building. This building is a big part of Mill Pond Park.

It's easy to get to the Bronx Children's Museum!

• Subway: You can take the train to the 149th Street–Grand Concourse station.
• Bus: Several New York City bus lines stop nearby. These include the Bx1, Bx2, Bx19, Bx41, Bx41 SBS buses.
• Train: You can also take the      Hudson Line train. Get off at the Yankees – East 153rd Street station.
