Brownsboro is a small, unincorporated community located in Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. It's found along Oregon Route 140, about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of the town of Eagle Point. Being an "unincorporated community" means it's a recognized place, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's governed by the county.
The Story Behind Brownsboro's Name
The community of Brownsboro is situated right next to Little Butte Creek. It received its name in 1853. The area was named after Henry R. Brown, who was the owner of the land where the community developed.
Brownsboro's Post Office History
A post office is a place where you can send and receive mail. For many years, the post office was a very important part of a community. A post office called Brownsborough first opened in this area in 1873. The very first postmaster, or person in charge of the post office, was John Bilger.
The name of the post office was officially changed to Brownsboro in 1892. This post office served the community for many decades. It finally closed its doors in 1954.
