Eagle Point is a city located in Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. It is often called the "Gateway to the Lakes." In 2010, the city had 8,469 residents. By 2020, the population grew to 9,686 people.

History of Eagle Point
In the middle of the 1800s, a rocky cliff near where Eagle Point is today was a favorite spot for eagles to build their nests. A local resident named John Mathews suggested "Eagle Point" as the name for a new post office in the area. The post office officially opened in 1872. Andrew McNeil was the first person to manage it.
Butte Creek Mill: A Historic Landmark
The Butte Creek Mill is a special water-powered gristmill in Eagle Point. It has been operating for over 125 years! Built in 1872 next to Little Butte Creek, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
Sadly, the mill burned down on Christmas Day in 2015. But the community worked hard to rebuild it. The Butte Creek Mill sold its first batch of grain again in December 2020. Actor Jim Belushi even performed a concert in 2016 to help raise money for the rebuilding effort. In 2018, actor Patrick Duffy, who lives in Eagle Point, joined the Butte Creek Mill Foundation to help with the rebuilding.

Eagle Point covers an area of about 2.96 square miles (7.69 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
The city is located north of Medford and White City. It is south of Shady Cove. Eagle Point is in the Rogue River Valley and sits along Oregon Route 62. A stream called Little Butte Creek, which flows into the Rogue River, passes through Eagle Point.

Eagle Point has a climate known as a "warm-summer Mediterranean climate." This means the summers are warm and dry, but not extremely hot. The average monthly temperatures do not go above 71.6°F (22°C).
