Bruno Dominix Hortelano Roig (born September 18, 1991) is a Spanish athlete who is very fast! He competes in sprinting events, like the 100-meter and 200-meter races. He has won several medals for Spain, including a gold medal at the European Championships.

Growing Up and Starting Athletics
Bruno Hortelano was born in Wollongong, Australia. His parents were from Spain, and his dad was finishing his studies there. In 1992, when Bruno was a baby, his family moved to Canada. He grew up in Burlington, Ontario.
Bruno tried many sports when he was young. He did taekwondo and played soccer. In high school, he even played American football! He was also part of the Burlington Track Club. He started running the 100-meter race and later the 110-meter hurdles.
High School and College Years
From 2005 to 2009, Bruno went to Assumption Catholic Secondary School. He was named the best sprinter twice! In 2009, he was a finalist in the 100-meter race at a big championship in Toronto.
That same year, Bruno went to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He studied genetics and graduated in 2014. While at Cornell, he competed in the Ivy League, which is a group of famous universities known for their sports.

Bruno Hortelano has represented Spain in many important competitions around the world.
Breaking Spanish Records
In 2013, Bruno competed in the World Championships. He ran the 200-meter race and reached the semifinals. In that race, he set a new Spanish record with a time of 20.47 seconds!
He broke his own record again at the 2016 European Championships. He ran the 200-meter race in 20.39 seconds in the semifinals. This time, he went on to win the gold medal!
Later in 2016, Bruno competed in the Summer Olympics in Rio. He broke his national record again in the Men's 200-meter race, finishing in 20.12 seconds. Even though he ran super fast, he didn't make it to the final race that time.
Medals and Major Competitions
Bruno has won several medals for Spain:
- Gold Medal: In 2016, he won gold in the 200-meter race at the European Championships in Amsterdam.
- Silver Medal: In 2022, he won silver as part of the 4x400-meter relay team at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade.
- Bronze Medals:
* In 2013, he won bronze in the 4x100-meter relay at the European U23 Championships in Tampere. * In 2018, he won bronze in the 4x400-meter relay at the European Championships in Berlin.
He has also competed in other big events like the World Junior Championships and the Ibero-American Championships.
