Bryan McClendon (born December 28, 1983) is an American football coach. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team in the National Football League (NFL).

Before joining the Buccaneers, Coach McClendon worked with college teams. He was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at the University of Georgia from 2022 to 2023. He also held similar roles at the University of Oregon from 2020 to 2021. He even served as an interim head coach for Oregon in the Alamo Bowl in 2021.

McClendon was also the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for the University of South Carolina. He was also an interim head coach for the University of Georgia for one game in 2015, the TaxSlayer Bowl.

Early Life and Playing Football

Bryan McClendon grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He played high school football at Benjamin E. Mays High School. After high school, he went to the University of Georgia. He played as a wide receiver for the Georgia Bulldogs.

College Football Success

McClendon was part of a very successful team at Georgia. His senior class, the players who graduated in 2005, won 44 games. This was a record for Georgia at the time. In his senior year, he caught a game-winning touchdown pass. This helped Georgia win a close game against Georgia Tech. After college, he spent a short time with the Chicago Bears in the NFL.

Coaching Career Journey

Bryan McClendon has coached for several college teams and now in the NFL. He has held many important roles, helping players improve their skills.

Coaching at Georgia (First Time)

McClendon started his coaching career at the University of Georgia. He began as a graduate assistant in 2007. This role helps coaches learn the ropes. Later, he became the running backs coach. From 2009 to 2013, he coached the running backs.

In 2015, he became the wide receivers coach. He also helped with recruiting new players from 2013 to 2015. In January 2015, he was promoted to assistant head coach. When the head coach, Mark Richt, left Georgia in late 2015, McClendon stepped in. He became the interim head coach for the TaxSlayer Bowl.

Coaching at South Carolina

After his time as interim head coach at Georgia, McClendon moved to the University of South Carolina. He became the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2016. In 2018, he was promoted to offensive coordinator. This meant he was in charge of the team's offense. He stayed in this role until the end of the 2019 season. After that, he went back to being just the wide receivers coach.

Coaching at Oregon

In April 2020, McClendon joined the University of Oregon. He was hired as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. In December 2021, the head coach left Oregon. Bryan McClendon was again named interim head coach. He led the team in the Alamo Bowl. After the season, he had an offer to coach elsewhere but decided to stay at Oregon for a short time.

Return to Georgia (Second Time)

On January 31, 2022, McClendon returned to the University of Georgia. He became the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. This was his second time coaching for the Bulldogs. He helped the Georgia team win the National Championship in 2023. They defeated TCU in that big game.

Coaching in the NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On February 23, 2024, Bryan McClendon made a big move. He was named the wide receivers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is his first coaching job in the NFL.

Personal Life

Bryan McClendon is married to Amber Arnold. They have one son, named Bryan. His father, Willie McClendon, was also a football player. Willie McClendon played as a running back for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Chicago Bears.
