Bryan Volpenhein (born August 18, 1976) is an American rower. He is famous for competing in the Olympic Games three times. He took part in the Olympics in 2000, 2004, and 2008.

Bryan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He went to Kings High School in Kings Mills, Ohio. Later, he studied at Ohio State University. There, he was part of The Ohio State University Crew Club. He graduated from college in 2002. After the 2005 World Rowing Championships, he studied cooking at The Art Institute of Seattle.

Bryan Volpenhein's Rowing Achievements

Bryan Volpenhein is a very successful rower. He is the only person to win the USRowing Male Athlete of the Year award twice. He won it in 2002 and again in 2004.

In 2004, Bryan and his team won a gold medal at the Olympics. Because of this, they were named "USATODAY.com's U.S. Olympic Athlete of the Week." He also won a bronze medal in the men's eight event at the 2008 Olympics.

Coaching Career

Bryan Volpenhein later became a rowing coach. He was the head coach for the University of Pennsylvania Men's Heavyweight Rowing Team. This was for the 2019–2020 season.

Before that, he worked at the University of San Diego Men's Rowing team. He was the Training and Technical Director for the 2018–2019 season. In 2019, he also coached the Junior Men's Varsity team at the San Diego Rowing Club.

In August 2022, Bryan left his coaching job at the University of Pennsylvania. He moved with his family to support his wife, Sarah Trowbridge. She became the head coach of The University of Oklahoma Women's Rowing team.
