Bryndís's Writing Journey
Bryndís started writing very early. When she was just fifteen, she helped write a book called Orðabelgur Ormars ofurmennis, which means The Wordballoon of Worm Wonderman.
Award-Winning Books
In 2011, Bryndís published her second book, a children's story called Flugan sem stöðvaði stríðið. This translates to The Fly Who Ended the War. This book was very popular and won the Icelandic Children's Book Prize in 2011.
Later, in 2014, she wrote a book for young adults titled Hafnfirðingabrandarinn, or The Local Joke. This book also received important awards. It won both the Icelandic Literary Prize and the Icelandic Women's Literature Prize in 2014. These are big awards in Iceland for writers.
Teaching and Education
Besides writing, Bryndís also teaches. She is an adjunct professor at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. This means she is a part-time teacher there, sharing her knowledge with students.
Helping Others: Bryndís's Activism
Bryndís is also known for her work helping people. In 2015, during the Syrian Civil War, many people had to leave their homes in Syria. Bryndís used social media to encourage the Icelandic government and people to help these refugees.
She asked Icelanders to open their homes and welcome those who needed a safe place. Her strong message helped the Icelandic government think differently about how they could help immigrants and refugees.
