Buchegg is a cool place in Switzerland! It's a special kind of town called a municipality. You can find it in the canton of Solothurn.

Buchegg wasn't always one big town. It was formed by joining many smaller villages together. On January 1, 2014, ten villages became one municipality. These were Tscheppach, Brügglen, Aetingen, Aetigkofen, Bibern, Gossliwil, Hessigkofen, Mühledorf, Küttigkofen, and Kyburg-Buchegg. Later, on January 1, 2024, Lüterswil-Gächliwil also joined Buchegg.

Buchegg's History

The villages that make up Buchegg have a long and interesting past. Some of them are very old! For example, Aetigkofen was first mentioned in records way back in the year 1034. Hessigkofen was also mentioned around the same time.

Other villages like Gossliwil and Brügglen were first written about in the 1200s. This shows that people have lived in this area for many, many centuries.
