History of Buchs
Buchs was first mentioned a very long time ago. This was in the year 870. Back then, it was called Pusaha. Later, in 1219, its name changed to Buhsa. This shows that Buchs has a long history.

Buchs covers an area of about 5.9 square kilometers. A big part of this land is used for farming. About half of the area is farmland. Forests cover a good portion too, about 27%.
Buildings and roads take up about 22% of the land. The rest is made up of rivers or other natural areas. Buchs is located in a valley called the Furttal. It sits on the southern side of the Lägern ridge.

Transportation in Buchs
Buchs has a train station called Buchs-Dällikon railway station. This station is part of the Zürich S-Bahn network. The S6 train line stops here. This line connects Buchs to other towns.
Long ago, Buchs had another train station. This was part of a different railway line. That line closed down in 1937. The old station building is still there. It is in the upper part of the village. But the train tracks were removed in 1969.
