Bude is a small town located in Franklin County, Mississippi, in the United States. In 2020, about 780 people lived there. The town is on the north side of the Homochitto River, which flows through the county. Major roads like U.S. Routes 98 and 84 pass near Bude.
A company called American Railcar Industries has a large maintenance shop in Bude.
In March 2017, Bude was featured on the TV show 60 Minutes. This was because its local chess team won the state championship, which was a big achievement for the town!

History of Bude
Bude was started in 1912 by people from Europe. It was named after a place in England. This was the former home of Mrs. F.L. Peck, whose husband was one of the town's founders.
Geography and Location
Bude is in the middle of Franklin County. It is about 3 miles (5 km) east of Meadville, which is the county seat. You can take US 84 about 28 miles (45 km) east to Brookhaven. US 98 goes about 35 miles (56 km) southeast to McComb. If you travel west on both highways, you will reach Natchez in about 36 miles (58 km).
The town of Bude covers a total area of about 1.4 square miles (3.7 km2). Only a tiny part of this area, about 0.004 square miles (0.01 km2), is water.
Because Bude is in the center of southwest Mississippi, a Mississippi Public Broadcasting radio and TV antenna is located there. This helps people in the area get their TV and radio signals.
