Bull Cove Falls is a beautiful waterfall hidden in the southwestern Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. It's a great spot to explore nature in the Southern Nantahala Wilderness.

Where the Water Comes From

The water for Bull Cove Falls starts in Bull Cove Creek. This creek begins just north of the border between North Carolina and Georgia. It flows west, tumbling over the falls. After the falls, the creek joins Beech Creek, which then flows into the larger Tallulah River.

The falls themselves are a two-part cascade. This means the water flows down in a series of steps over solid rock, called bedrock.

Planning Your Visit

Visiting Bull Cove Falls is an exciting adventure, but it requires some planning! The falls are located in a wilderness area, so you need to be ready for a real outdoor trek.

To get there, you'll travel on US 76. About 8 miles south of the state line, turn right onto Persimmon Road. Drive for 4.1 miles until you reach Tallulah River Road. The trailhead for Bull Cove Falls is 7.6 miles up this road.

The trail to the falls is about 1 mile long, one way. It's considered a strenuous hike, meaning it's quite challenging. Because it's a wilderness area, make sure you are prepared for backcountry travel. This means bringing plenty of water, snacks, and knowing how to stay safe in nature.
