Bullards Bar was once a small town in Yuba County, California. It was a place where people searched for gold during the famous California Gold Rush.
This old town was found near the North Yuba River. It was high up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, about 1,909 feet (582 meters) above sea level. Bullards Bar was also about 6 miles (10 km) southeast of a place called Challenge.
The Story of Bullards Bar
The town was named after Dr. Bullard. He was one of the first miners to look for gold in this area. Bullards Bar even had its own post office. It was open for many years, from 1866 until 1914.
However, in the early 1970s, the town of Bullards Bar disappeared. It was covered by water when the New Bullards Bar Reservoir was built.
