Growing Up and College Football
Bunmi Rotimi was born in Alexandria, Virginia. His parents came from Africa. He went to West Potomac High School. Even though he only started playing football in his first year of high school, he quickly became good. By his junior year, he earned special honors for his play.
After high school, Bunmi went to Old Dominion University. In 2013, he spent his first year as a "redshirt." This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. This allowed him to get stronger and learn more.
In his first year playing, he was a "walk-on." This means he joined the team without a scholarship at first. He played in 12 games as a defensive tackle. He made 30 tackles that season.
As a sophomore, Bunmi played in 12 games again. He made 36 tackles and was second on his team with 4.5 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback.
For his junior year, he changed his position to defensive end. He started 13 games. He made 44 tackles and seven sacks. In his senior year, he started seven games. He made 29 tackles and 5.5 sacks. In one game against Marshall, he blocked a field goal. After his senior season, he received an honorable mention for his conference.

Chicago Bears
In 2018, Bunmi was not chosen in the 2018 NFL draft. But the Chicago Bears signed him as an undrafted free agent. This means they signed him even though he wasn't drafted. He was released by the team before the season started.
Arizona Hotshots
After the Bears, Bunmi joined the Arizona Hotshots. This team was part of a league called the Alliance of American Football (AAF). He played in five games for them. He made six tackles and one sack. The AAF league stopped playing games that same year.
New York Guardians

Washington Football Team
