Busker Busker (Korean: 버스커 버스커) is a popular Korean indie band. They became famous after appearing on Superstar K, a well-known audition show in South Korea. The band has three members: Jang Bum-jun, who plays guitar and sings; Kim Hyung-tae, who plays bass guitar; and Bradely Ray Moore, who plays the drums. They finished second in Superstar K season 3. After the show, they released their first album on March 29, 2012.

The Story of Busker Busker

How the Band Began

The three band members met at the same university in Cheonan. Jang Bum-jun and Kim Hyung-tae studied Animation Art. Brad Moore was an English professor there. They named their band Busker Busker because they used to perform music on the street for people in Cheonan.

Later, they moved to Seoul to share their music with more people. They often played in Hong-dae, a popular spot for many indie musicians in Korea. As they gained fans, they decided to join Superstar K in April 2011. The band used to have more members, but the lineup changed a lot. When the three current members could all make time for TV appearances, Busker Busker became a trio.

Their Journey on Superstar K

Busker Busker passed the first round of Superstar K by performing their own song, "Ideal Type." During the "Super-week" stage, they sang a K-pop song called "Coming-of-age ceremony." They didn't pass the next round against another group called 2-Month.

However, something unexpected happened. One of the top 10 bands, Yeri-Band, left the show without permission. This created an open spot in the competition. Busker Busker was then chosen to return as one of the top 11 groups, along with another band called Haze.

On the live stages, Busker Busker sang many songs. These included "Tokyo girl," "People in Seoul," and "Makgerlina." They became incredibly popular, and most of their songs reached the top of the music charts. Even though another group, Ulala Session, won the competition, Busker Busker remained very popular after the show ended.

Releasing Their Music

Busker Busker released their first official album, Busker Busker 1st album, on March 29, 2012. All the songs on the album were written by the band members themselves. Songs like "Cherry blossom Ending," "First Love," and "Yeosu Night Sea" became huge hits on all the K-pop charts.

Their first album sold over a million copies! Their next album, Busker Busker 1st Finale, was released on June 21 and was also very popular. The band finished promoting their albums after their first concert, Youth Bus, which took place on June 22 and 23.
