Where is Butler Located?
Butler is found in the middle of Montgomery County. It sits along Illinois Route 127. This road runs along the eastern side of the village. If you go southeast on Route 127 for about 4 miles, you will reach Hillsboro. Hillsboro is the main town, or county seat, for Montgomery County. If you travel north on Route 127 for about 8 miles, you will get to Raymond.
Land and Water Around Butler
Butler covers a total area of about 0.60 square miles (1.54 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There are no large lakes or rivers within the village itself. Water from the village flows into nearby creeks. To the east, water goes into Cress Creek. To the west, it flows into Brush Creek. Both of these creeks eventually join the Middle Fork or West Fork of Shoal Creek. Shoal Creek then flows south into the Kaskaskia River.
